A native of Detroit, Cureton was originally drafted in the third of ten rounds (58th overall) in the 1979 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. He also spent time with the Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers, Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets and Toronto Raptors during his NBA career, where he posted 5.4 points and 4.7 rebounds over 674 games.
