BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Bellingham Slam guard Jacob Stevenson capped a day that saw him inducted into the Western Washington University Athletic Hall of Fame with a season-high 29 points as the Bellingham Slam defeated the Olympia Reign, 120-100 in International Basketball League action at Whatcom Pavilion on Saturday.

Playing their second game in as many nights, the Slam had trouble shaking free from the Reign until the fourth quarter.

Leading 57-47 at halftime, the Reign whittled away at the deficit and trailed by just three, at 69-66, following a three-pointer from forward Kenny Thomas. But Bellingham responded by scoring the next eight points to re-establish a double-digit lead.

In the fourth quarter, the Slam blew the game wide open with a 18-2 run to start the frame, making the score 100-75. A second 12-2 run late kept the game out of reach for Olympia.

Stevenson's game-high 29 points paced three players for Bellingham (4-2) to score at least 20. Center Blake Poole finished with a double-double of 21 points and 17 rebounds while guard Morris Anderson scored 20 and dished out 6 assists.

Guard Avery Sharer led Olympia (0-2) with 27 points. With Bellingham not suiting up any player taller than 6-foot-6, the Reign won the rebounding battle 51-44.

The Slam hit the road for their next two games in Portland and Vancouver, respectively, before returning to Whatcom Pavilion for their annual Memorial Day game versus the Vancouver Volcanoes on May 26. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
