Danbury Titans News Release

The Danbury Titans have announced Steve Brown as the organization's first captain.  The honor goes to someone who the organization believes will be able to lead the team on and off the ice.

Steve, 26, is entering his fourth season of professional hockey. He has amassed nine goals and 38 assists in his 134 games in the Federal Hockey League with the Cape Cod Bluefins and Danbury Whalers. During the 2012-2013 season, the North Carolina native was a mainstay on the blue line on the path to a championship. Brown has also spent some time in the SPHL as well as the ECHL.

Coach Phil Esposito was very candid about the defenseman after the announcement. "Steve has been a guy who I can count on ever since he came to Danbury. He works hard and always defends his teammates. We have many leaders on this team but I think having someone who exemplifies the hard working spirit of Danbury is perfect. I know that Steve will do a great job mentoring some of the younger players we have coming in".

"I couldn't be more honored to be selected as the captain", commented Steve Brown. "Being a captain is a big deal for me. I have had many captains over the years who did a great job leading our teams. I hope I can be that kind of leader and am looking forward to being a positive example for everyone in the room".

The Danbury Titans will play a preseason game at the Danbury Ice Arena Friday, October 30th at 7 PM against the Brewster Bulldogs. Their training camp and preseason will conclude on Sunday, November 1st in an exhibition game at Brewster. The Danbury Titans begin their inaugural regular season Friday November 6 at Brewster with the home opener against the rival Brewster Bulldogs on November 7th at 7:35 PM.
