GARY, Ind. (May 14, 2003) â Everyone's favorite mascot is busy filling up his dance card for the evening of Friday, May 23.
Steelie, the Gary Steelheads mascot, will be at the G.R.E.A.T graduation party/dance for graduates. The dance will be held at the Lincoln Center, 2450 Lincoln St., in Highland from 7-9:30 p.m.
G.R.E.A.T. stands for Gang Resistance Education And Training, which began in 1991. It is a life skills program designed to provide children with the skills they need to avoid gang pressure and youth violence. The curriculum helps students develop beliefs and practice behaviors that will help them avoid destructive behaviors.
