SteelHounds Sign Tulsa Pair in Lachapelle and Dulle

August 22, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Youngstown SteelHounds News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Youngstown SteelHounds of the Central Hockey League announced today that Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Kaminski has signed forward Bryan Lachapelle and defenseman Kurtis Dulle for the 2007-08 season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Both come to the Hounds as part of the five-player deal that sent Jeff Christian to Tulsa on June 21st.

Lachapelle, 27, will begin his fifth year as a pro in a SteelHounds sweater after spending last season with the Tulsa Oilers. The Hounds mark the Tay Township, Ontario native's fourth CHL stop as along with Tulsa he also spent time in Amarillo and San Angelo.

"I love the way that Bryan plays because of his passion and ability to get under the opponent's skin," said Head Coach Kevin Kaminski. "He is a solid two-way player with his intensity, true grit that he brings to the rink every night. When you look up the word rat in the dictionary you will see his picture."

While with Tulsa last season, the 5-9, 185-pound center had 47 points coming from 17 goals and 30 assists to go along with 239 penalty minutes in 50 games. In 117 career CHL games he has accumulated 25 goals, 45 assists and 355 penalty minutes.

Kurtis Dulle, 27 is a fourth year defenseman who comes to the Valley after splitting time with Rio Grande Valley and Tulsa last season where he amassed seven goals and 33 assists in 60 games played. The 5-11, 195-pound back-liner also spent time in the ECHL with the Victoria Salmon Kings during the 2004-2005 season.

Head Coach Kevin Kaminski sees Dulle as a player he can count on for all the things that are not on the stat sheet saying, "Kurtis is a very solid, accountable defenseman who can skate with the best of them and I feel he will fit into the SteelHounds system very well."

Fans will get their first chance to see Bryan Lachapelle and Kurtis Dulle when the Hounds host the ECHL Cincinnati Cyclones in an exhibition game at the Chevrolet Centre on Friday, October 12th at 7:05pm. Tickets for this event are on sale now for just $5 and are available by calling the Hounds at (330) 747-PUCK.
