
Steelheads Visit Dodge City This Weekend

GARY, Indiana (June 9, 2007) - The Gary Steelheads make their first trip to Dodge City this weekend, playing back-to-back games Saturday and Sunday against the Legend at the Dodge City Civic Center. Saturday night's game will be the second game of a five-game road trip for Gary.
The Steelheads began the road trip Thursday night with a 101-96 loss at Oklahoma. Forward Jamario Moon paced all scorers with 26 points in a losing cause, while guard Carl Edwards added 15 and rookie forward Adam Schaper added 14 points. For Schaper, it was his first double-digit road game performance and his tenth overall.
Gary drove to the basket the entire game, generating half of their points from the line. Gary hit 48-of-57 from the free throw line, hitting .842 in charity tosses. The two teams combined for 100 free throw attempts. Gary narrowly prevailed on the boards, 34-33.
Gary and Dodge City have met twice previously, with the teams splitting two games at the Genesis Center in Gary. The Legend won the first game on June 3rd, 94-86. Gary took the second meeting June 5th, 110-87. The Steelheads played both games without 7-foot-1 center Chris Alexander, suspended for disciplinary reasons.
The two teams meet three more times, all of them in Dodge City. The Steelheads have a 14-9 record overall, 3-6 on the road.
