Steelheads To Host First Ever Midwestern USBL Combine

GARY, Indiana (March 15, 2007) "" The Gary Steelheads announced today that they will host a special Midwestern USBL Combine for free agent athletes on March 24th and 25th at the Courts of Northwest Indiana in Valparaiso, Indiana. The tryout is a first for the USBL, featuring representatives from the coaching staffs of the Gary Steelheads, the Kansas Cagers and the Jackson Wildcats.
Sessions will cover two days. On Saturday, March 24th, drills and skills will be emphasized between 9:00AM-1:00PM. Regulation games will follow between 4:00PM-8:00PM. The next day, games will begin at 9:00AM and run through 1:00PM.
All games will be officiated, with full statistics and video. Each participant will play in a minimum of four games. The cost for participation in the USBL Combine is $175 in advance, and $200 at the door.
"I'm excited to be part of something new for the USBL, said Gary Steelheads coach Cliff Levingston. "I'm glad the USBL is growing in a positive direction."
The Courts of Northwest Indiana is a new complex located at the intersection of U.S. Highways 6 and 49. The 60,000-square foot facility was opened in September of 2006 and is considered to be one of the premiere facilities in the Region. It features four basketball courts and three tennis courts.
The Gary Steelheads recently joined the United States Basketball League and will begin their Inaugural USBL season on Friday, April 13th against the Jackson Wildcats. Last season, the Steelheads logged their most successful season in franchise history, culminating in a trip to the CBA Finals.
