Steelheads Name Renee Connelly Director of Marketing and Business Development

GARY, Indiana (February 3, 2007) "" The Gary Steelheads added another key piece to their management team with the naming of Renee Connelly as the team's Director of Marketing and Business Development. She will also perform similar duties for Showtime Sports and Entertainment, the new ownership group for the team.
Known for her tireless advocacy on behalf of both the City of Gary and Northwest Indiana, Connelly joins the team after working in project development for Bucko Construction in Gary. Previously, she had served as Corporate Sales Executive for the Gary SouthShore RailCats baseball team, working in the team front office during their championship season of 2005. Prior to that, Connelly spent five years as Education Manager for the Coca Cola Bottling Company in Northwest Indiana.
"I feel very excited, very honored," said Connelly. "I think we have a great team, and we're going to have a great product. It's just the right fit."
Connelly takes pride in her community involvement, which includes volunteer work for the Executive Host Committee of the Miss USA Pageant, the Union Beneficio Mexicano, the Puerto Rican Festival, Black History Month and the March of Dimes. Much of her work has included fund raising for education scholarships.
"Being involved with all of the venues when I was at Coca Cola, I was blessed to meet so many wonderful people," she said.
Connelly developed a love of sports from her days as a youth soccer coach in her native Merrillville. She has three children, two sons, a daughter and a granddaughter.
"Renee loves Northwest Indiana and the Steelheads," said team President Jewell Harris Jr. "She has a proven track record in the field of sales and marketing, and we at Showtime Sports & Entertainment are excited to have her on board."
