Steelheads Host Oklahoma Friday Night at the Genesis Center

GARY, Indiana (5/17/2007) - A brief two-game homestand concludes for the Gary Steelheads Friday night at the Genesis Center, as Gary meets the Oklahoma Storm for the first time. The Steelheads bring a solid 9-4 record into the contest, in hopes of advancing to double-digit victories before again hitting the road.
Gary returned home last Sunday night following a six-game road trip, defeating the Brooklyn Kings 111-89. Typical of most Steelheads' wins this season, Gary distributed the scoring load with five players in double figures. For the second straight game, guard Carl Edwards paced the attack with 25 points, while forward Corey Minnifield added 17. Guard Eddy Barlow handed out 16 assists in the victory, the highest single-game assist total in the USBL this season.
The Steelheads shot .553 from the field for the game, while ruling on the boards 54-27. Gary collected seven more blocked shots for its "Block Party," paced by forward Jamario Moon's three rejections. Four other players had one blocked shot each. The game marked the return of center Chris Alexander, who had missed ten games with an injury. He hit 6-of-7 shots from the field, while grabbing six rebounds in 18 minutes.
Friday night's game promises to be very entertaining for the fans, as the famous Zooperstars will entertain during the game and at halftime. The Zooperstars are one of the nation's premiere sports entertainment acts, having performed for more than 30-million people all over the world. Plus, the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive miniature rubber basketballs, courtesy of U.S. Steel.
