
Steelheads Host Dodge City in Battle of Midwest Division Leaders

GARY, Indiana - The Gary Steelheads host the Dodge City Legend at the Genesis Center Sunday evening. The game will be a match the top two teams in the USBL's Midwest Division.
Gary enters Sunday's action on a three-game winning streak, including an 84-77 victory over the Oklahoma Storm on Saturday night. Oklahoma scored the first two points in that game, but Gary scored the next 20 to build a 22-2 cushion midway through the first quarter. By halftime, the Storm had fought back to close the Steelheads' lead to 46-39. Gary opened the lead back up to as much as 14 points in the third quarter, only to have Oklahoma come storming back in the fourth quarter to pull within two points late in the game. But Gary held off the charge and closed out the victory. The Steelheads' record improved to 13-7, good for second place in the USBL's Midwest Division.
The Steelheads were paced by forward Jamario Moon, who tossed in 23 points for the winners. Forward Corey Minnifield and center Chris Alexander turned in double-double performances, with Minnifield scoring 14 points with 11 rebounds and Alexander tossing in 12 points with a game-high 14 rebounds. Guard Louis White and forward Marlowe Currie scored 10 apiece. Oklahoma, playing without forward Anthony Terrell, was paced by forward Michael Cuffey with 22 points.
The Dodge City Legend come to Northwest Indiana with the best record in the USBL at 10-4. They are coached by former Gary Steelheads' assistant and head coach Dale Osborne.
A broadcast of Sunday night's game will air through the SportsJuice web site (www.sportsjuice.com), with Bill Hazen calling his seventh season of Steelheads' action. Airtime will be 5:50PM CDT. Game time is 6:00PM CDT.
