Gary Steelheads News Release

GARY, Indiana (May 25, 2007) - The Gary Steelheads will have two streaks on their mind when they host the Kansas Cagerz Saturday night at the Genesis Center, and the Cagerz are responsible for both of them. The first is a two-game losing streak overall, and the second is a three-game losing streak against Kansas.

Since moving to the USBL, the Steelheads have not beaten the Cagerz in three decisions. Two of those games were played in Salina, Kansas Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, and Gary came up short 106-100 and 95-79. With the two wins, Kansas pulled even with Gary for the second spot in the USBL's Midwest Division. Each team is 10-6 on the season.

The Steelheads have never fielded their anticipated roster for any game with the Cagerz. In the two losses at Salina, Gary played once again without center Chris Alexander (NBA tryouts) and guard Rob Griffin (injury). Guard Carl Edwards was limited to just nine minutes in the second road meeting due to injury, after scoring 30 points against the Cagerz the previous night.

The Cagerz are the only team to defeat the Steelheads at the Genesis Center this year, posting an 86-78 victory on April 19th. In that game, the Steelheads were without Alexander (injury), Griffin (injury) and forward Jamario Moon (death in family).

A broadcast of Saturday night's game will air through the SportsJuice web site (www.sportsjuice.com), with Bill Hazen calling his seventh season of Steelheads' action. Airtime will be 6:50PM CDT. Game time is 7:05PM CDT. For ticket information, contact the Steelheads office at (219) 883-3000.
