GARY, IN - The Gary Steelheads today announced the hiring of Dennis Truax as their new Director of Media Relations. Truax will also hold the position of Assistant Director of Basketball Operations for the Steelheads.
Truax is no stranger to minor league basketball as he has served as the Director of Public Relations for the United States Basketball League since 2001. Prior to that time he served the USBL as an intern and a consultant. Truax will be responsible for the coordination of all media releases, the general workings of the media department, along with the preparation and planning of the 2005 Infinity Pro Sports.com CBA All-Star Classic on January 18 and 19. He will also assist Director of Operations Sean McLaughlin in the day-to-day operations of the Steelheads.
"This is a great professional opportunity for myself," stated Truax. "The Steelheads are a first class organization from top to bottom. I look forward to working with Jewel Harris Jr., Esq., Duane Ticknor, Dale Osbourne, Sean McLaughlin and the rest of the Steelheads staff to not only make the 2005 CBA All-Star Classic a success, but also to bring a CBA Championship to the Gary Steelheads fans and supporters."
"Dennis will do a great job for us here in Gary. He is a hard worker who always makes sure the job gets done the right way. He has a high basketball IQ and is the best at what he does. I know that Dale and I will be looking to him for help sometime during the season and that he will be able to do the job for us. I am glad to have him on board with us this season," stated Steelheads Head Coach Duane Ticknor.
"Dennis is a very capable addition to the Steelheads family," said Steelheads Jewell G. Harris Sr., Chief Executive Officer. "He has had great success with the USBL in the coordination of their Post-Season Festival which will serve us well with the hosting of the All-Star Classic. I know that our staff has the utmost respect for what he has been able to accomplish with the USBL and I am glad to be able to add him to the Steelheads family."
