Trenton Steel News Release
TRENTON, NJ (November 29, 2010) - The Trenton Steel announced today a 2-year partnership with Statewide Promotions, Inc. to operate and direct all dance and cheer activities associated with the Steel for the 2011 and 2012 seasons. Statewide Promotions CEO and Director Lou Jacobs brings over 20 years of professional dance and cheer experience to the Trenton Steel. Statewide will coordinate and handle auditions, training, choreography and management of the team's Official 2011 Cheerleading Squad as well as Junior Pro Dance Program.
Jacobs brings with him an impressive resume, having worked with professional teams such as the Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Philadelphia Soul, Colorado Crush, and Dallas Desperados.
"I had an idea 19 years ago and proposed it at the first ever NFL Cheer Directors meeting, held in Jacksonville, Florida. The idea was to take the Pro Sports Cheer and Dance teams to the 'next level.' This meant organizing a team of ladies that were physically fit, articulate, educated, awesome dancers/cheerleaders, and of course, beautiful. These girls would be ambassadors for the franchise all year long, not only during the season," says Jacobs. He added, "Over the years dozens of our former dancers and cheerleaders have gone on to represent college and professional NBA, NFL, AFL Pro Lacrosse, and Soccer organizations, and I am looking forward to the new synergies and avenues of opportunity that Statewide will build through the Steel brand."
In addition to the Official 2011 Trenton Steel Cheerleading squad, Jacobs will be initializing a Junior Pro Dance Program for girls ages 8-18. The Junior Pro Dance Program started 17 years ago and provides a great opportunity to get youth involved with the team. Program participants will train with Cheer and Dance team members from some of the top national teams and work with professional choreographers in preparation for performances during select Steel games this season.
"Statewide Promotions does a great job with both Senior and Junior dance teams," says Steel General Manager Richard Lisk. "We are very happy to partner with Statewide in providing our fans with some great in-game entertainment - people will really be impressed."
