Steel Hire Zach Stepan as Assistant Coach

The Chippewa Steel have announced the hiring of Zach Stepan as assistant coach under new interim head coach Carter Foguth.
Stepan played high school hockey at Shattuck St. Marys and went on to play one year in the USHL for the Waterloo Blackhawks. He then attended 4 years at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Stepan signed and played one year of pro hockey with the Toronto Maple Leafs organization for the Orlando Solar Bears.
"I'm looking forward to bringing my past playing experience to help assist with developing a hardworking culture with the Chippewa Steel," said Stepan.
Stepan was selected in the fourth round (112th overall) by Nashville in 2012 NHL Draft. Zach ranked third in the United States Hockey League in scoring in 2012-13 with 32 goals and 46 assists for 78 points in 56 games with Waterloo. Stepan was also a member of USA U17 team that captured Five Nations Tournament title in 2010 in Switzerland and played with USA U19 team that won the 2012 World Junior A Challenge Tournament title in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. He also competed on the USA U20 World Juniors Team in Sweden. Stephan is the cousin of Arizona Coyotes forward Derek Stepan.
"Zach has valuable playing experience that we believe will translate into helping develop our players on the ice and off ice," said Vice President of Operations Bryant Black.
