Steel Announces 2016 Training Camp Schedule

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Steel will open training camp in preparation for their third season of Arena Football League play on Friday, March 11 at the PDX Sports Center (8785 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy, Portland, OR 97225).
"We are excited as an organization to kick off the 2016 season with a spirited training camp," head coach Ron James stated. "I expect the camp to be highly competitive given the talented players we currently have on our roster. These next few weeks will go a long way in determining just what type of team we can be this year."
Players will report on Wednesday, March 9. Physicals will be conducted at Sports Medicine Oregon the next day, followed by introductory meetings. Practices will begin at 10:00 a.m. on March 11 at the PDX Sports Center, with the first practice sessions being held without pads. Pads will be introduced on March 14.
AFL training camp rosters consist of 35 players, plus invitees, who will compete for 24 spots on the opening roster. Final rosters must be turned into the Arena Football League office by 5:00 p.m. central time on Friday, March 25.
All training camp practices are open to the public, and media availability will begin at noon (12:00 p.m.) on every practice day. Interested media and photographers may begin filing for appropriate credentialing on Thursday, March 3 via email (rboelke@arenafootball.com
The Steel open their 2016 AFL season at home against the Arizona Rattlers on Friday, April 1.
