March 20, 2005 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
San Jose Stealth News Release

SAN JOSE - After being shutout and giving up four goals in the first quarter, the San Jose Stealth scored seven straight goals while holding the Calgary Roughnecks scoreless for almost 30 minutes.

Usually, that's enough to secure a win. But in the frustrating 2005 season, that wasn't the case for the Stealth.

San Jose (3-9) wound up losing its seventh straight, 11-10, to Calgary (8-3) before 5,564 at HP Pavilion at San Jose.

After the Roughnecks scored all four goals in the opening quarter, the Stealth scored the next seven goals. Ex-Roughneck Ted Dowling scored three of those seven with the others coming from Cam Sedgwick, Derek Malawsky, Cam Woods and Gary Rosyski. During that barrage, Curt Malawsky had three assists, while Sedgwick had two.

Dowling's goal at 6:30 of the third quarter gave San Jose a 7-4 lead. But Lewis Ratcliff broke Calgary's drought, which lasted 29:07, with an unassisted goal at 8:51. Tracy Kelusky and Kaleb Toth each scored for the Roughnecks to tie the game at 7-7. San Jose rallied one more time as Kevin Fines, Sedgwick and Curtis Hodgson picked up goals to put the Stealth up 10-7.

Hodgson's goal with 27 seconds gone in the fourth quarter was San Jose's last score. Calgary overcame San Jose's 10-7 lead by scoring four straight goals, two from Ratcliff, to win the game.
