Stealth in first place after 14-13 overtime win over Calgary

SAN JOSE - The San Jose Stealth (5-4) scored a season-high seven goals in the first quarter against the Calgary Roughnecks (6-5).
But as everyone who follows the National Lacrosse League knows, no lead is safe.
The Roughnecks rallied from a 7-2 deficit and temporarily took the lead in parts of the third and fourth quarters. But the Stealth scored four in the fourth quarter, including the tying goal and Gary Rosyski scored the winning goal within the first minute of overtime as San Jose defeated Calgary, 14-13, before 5,338 at HP Pavilion at San Jose
The win gives San Jose a share of first place in the West Division with the Roughnecks and the Colorado Mammoth (6-5). The victory was San Jose's third in a row and second straight at home.
San Jose opened the scoring at 54 seconds of the first quarter on the first of two goals by Kevin Fines. The Stealth followed with tallies from Jeff Zywicki (1:21), Darren Reisig (4:53) and Ryan Boyle (6:43). Calgary finally hit the scoreboard as Kevin Dostie scored at 7:18. The Stealth rallied by scoring two goals within 31 seconds as Rosyski got the first of his four goals at 8:26 and Zywicki picked up the second of his three at 8:57.
Calgary's Tracy Kelusky gave the Roughnecks their second goal at 9:53. Rosyski answered at 10:29 and Dostie closed out the first quarter scoring with his second goal at 10:58.
The Stealth's lone second quarter goal came from Derek Malawsky at 3:52. Calgary scored just twice as Kelusky got one at 1:18 and Kaleb Toth picked up a goal at 14:34. However, San Jose led at halftime, 8-5.
The Roughnecks outscored the Stealth, 5-1, in the third quarter. Calgary opened the scoring by picking up the first three goals, courtesy of Jason Wulder (1:32), Kelusky (2:15) and Toth, whose goal at 3:39 tied the score at 8-8. San Jose regained the lead at 9-8 when Zywicki tallied at 4:16. But the Roughnecks tied the game at 9-9 when Wulder scored his second goal at 12:17 and then took a 10-9 lead 34 seconds later on Kelusky's fourth goal.
San Jose tied the score at 10-10 early in the fourth quarter on Boyle's second goal at 28 seconds. Kelusky scored his fifth goal at 1:30 to put Calgary back on top at 11-10. The Stealth tied the game on Fines' second goal at 3:39 and went ahead 12-11 on Cam Sedgwick's goal at 8:28.
But Calgary tied the score at 10:52 on Lewis Ratcliff's goal and went up 13-12 when Toth scored at 11:29.
However, San Jose tied the score at 12:05 on Rosyski's third goal on assists from Eric Martin and Reisig. Then in overtime, Rosyski scored an unassisted goal to give San Jose the win.
Rosyski led the Stealth with four goals, a team season high. Rosyski's performance also gave him his first hat trick of the season. Malawsky had five assists for the second straight game, tying a team season best. In addition, Malawsky had a team season high six points for the second straight game. Zywicki had his fourth hat trick of the season with three goals.
Kelusky paced Calgary with five goals, while Toth had three. Ratcliff had seven assists for the Roughnecks.
San Jose outshot Calgary, 53-47. The Roughnecks were 2-for-4 on the power play.
RADAR BLIPS: San Jose's 14 goals is a season high and the most scored by the Stealth since March 25, 2005, when they defeated the Anaheim Storm, 15-14, at HP Pavilion...NLL Commissioner Jim Jennings was in attendance at Saturday's game, which was also "Disco Night" as various off-turf officials and Stealth personnel were dressed in the colorful clothes of the late 1970s. In addition, hit Disco music from the era was heard throughout the night...The Stealth travel to Portland to take on the Lumberjax on March 25. They return home on March 31 to face the Buffalo Bandits.
