Stealth defeats Vancouver Ravens, 15-11

SAN JOSE - Gary Rosyski and Mike Regan scored six of the San Jose Stealth's nine first half goals as the Stealth defeated the Vancouver Ravens, 15-11, in a National Lacrosse League match at HP Pavilion at San Jose on Saturday afternoon.
The victory was San Jose's (7-4) third in their last four games and tied them with the Calgary Roughnecks for second place in the West Division. The Stealth and Roughnecks trail the division-leading Colorado Mammoth by two games. Vancouver (4-9) saw its two-game winning streak end with the defeat. The loss also put the Ravens six games behind the Mammoth in fifth place.
Rosyski picked up three of his four first half goals in the first quarter. The forward wound up with a game high of five. He's now second on the Stealth with 25 goals. Regan scored the last two goals of the first half and ended the day with three to increase his team lead to 31.
Josh Sanderson assisted on four of San Jose's nine first half goals. He tied a team season high, set twice previously by Sanderson, with six on the day. Sanderson is also among the NLL leaders with 45 assists.
The teams each scored five goals in the first quarter, but San Jose took control in the second quarter by outscoring the Ravens, 4-1, and had a 9-6 lead at halftime.
In fact, Vancouver didn't score a goal for the last 13:22 of the first half and the first 5:10 of the third quarter. That's when Vancouver's Mark Miyashita broke the 18:32 scoreless drought with an unassisted goal.
San Jose was in control for the entire game as they outscored Vancouver, 6-5, in the second half. The Stealth outshot the Ravens, 59-50.
The Ravens were led by Chris Gill, who scored three goals. Curt Malawsky and Chris Prat each had two. Randy Daly paced all Vancouver players with four assists.
STEALTH SIGHTINGS: With the victory, San Jose is now 4-1 at home and 6-3 against West Division opponents...The Stealth ended their three-game homestand with a 2-1 record. Starting March 27, San Jose plays three of its last four regular season games at home...Goaltender Rob Blasdell picked up his fifth win of the season by making 39 saves. He also had two assists to give him five on the season...The game was played before 4,078 fans and was televised throughout North America on The Score in Canada and Fox Sports Net in the United States...San Jose resumes play with a set of back-to-back games starting March 26 at Colorado and concluding March 27 in San Jose against Anaheim.
