San Jose Stealth News Release
SAN JOSE - San Jose Stealth Managing Director, General Manager and Head Coach Johnny Mouradian announced this week the acquisition of forward Brad Dairon and the playing rights to forward Ted Dowling from the Calgary Roughnecks, in exchange for Andrew Biers and a conditional draft pick.
Dowling, a 12-year National Lacrosse League veteran, has played with Calgary, Colorado, Montreal, Albany, Buffalo, Rochester, Boston and Detroit. He led the Calgary Roughnecks in goals last year with 38. He also added 27 assists for a total of 65 points. He helped Calgary win the Champion's Cup last season by notching 13 points in three playoff games (seven goals and six assists). He also won the cup in 1996 with the Buffalo Bandits.
The 5-foot-10, 190-pound native of Streetsville, Ontario has accumulated 548 points (306 goals and 242 assists) in 134 NLL games.
"We're happy with the acquisition of Dowling's rights," said Mouradian. "Ted and his wife are expecting their second child in February, so we're going to be patient and see how his personal life plays out to see if he decides to play on the Stealth this season."
Dairon was acquired last season by Calgary from Buffalo. He did not dress for the Roughnecks last year due to work commitments. In 21 career NLL games, the 6-foot-3, 235-pound Dairon has scored 51 points (27 goals and 24 assists).
"Brad had a great summer for the Burnaby Lakers, scoring 25 goals in 15 games," added Mouradian. "He'll be a great addition to our team."
Biers, 23, was drafted in the second round (18th overall) last season by the Stealth. He played in 16 regular season games, scoring 20 points (five goals and 15 assists).
