San Jose Stealth News Release
SAN JOSE - San Jose Stealth Managing Director, General Manager and Head Coach Johnny Mouradian announced today that the organization has traded goaltender Matt Roik to the Philadelphia Wings in exchange for their first round pick (sixth overall) in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft.
San Jose acquired Roik on July 20, in the first round (third overall) of the Anaheim dispersal draft. Playing in 16 games last season, Roik compiled a 4-8 record with a 12.94 goals-against average and a 72.47 save percentage. Over his four-year career with New Jersey and Anaheim, he has accumulated 1,190 saves, good enough for a 73.41 save percentage.
"Anytime you can move up in the draft, especially one with a strong draft class like this one, you jump on it," said Mouradian. "At No. 6, we are going to get a good ball player that will strengthen our organization. We wish Matt the best of luck next season with Philadelphia."
San Jose now has three first-round picks (six, eight and 11) in the draft.
