Stats help women's football score
Published on May 10, 2004 under National Women's Football Association (NWFA) News Release
The National Women's Football Association is making history again with the publication of weekly game stats from all of its 37 teams playing in the 2004 season. This is the first time in the history of the sport of women's football that game stats have been compiled and published.
"Now, not only the fans of our teams can see how their favorite players stack up against other players, but the media and sports writers can see just how talented our players are," states league CEO, Catherine Masters.
Due to the large number of teams playing in the 2004 season, compiling these stats has required the league to assign two full time people to handle the job. "It's a pretty massive job but we've got it down to a manageable form now so we couldn't be happier. Having these stats really put our league on a new level and we are pleased with the efforts of our team and our staff," states NWFA VP of Administration, Racheal Burton.
The league website, www.womensfootballassociation.com, receives between 1-3 million hits per month. Keeping the website updated and getting info posted in a timely manner is very important to the league. To see the latest stats and league leaders, please visit www.womensfootballassociation.com
The National Women's Football Association will be holding the 2004 Women's Football World Championship Game on July 31st in Louisville, KY at the Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. Last year almost 6,000 fans from around the country attended the game. This year, the league hopes to see that number reach more than 10,000. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.com and the Papa John's Cardinal Stadium ticket office.
