TRAVERSE CITY - Kyle Jendra made 32 saves in 33 chances, and for the second straight night the Traverse City North Stars put the lock-down on the U.S. National Team Development Program's Under-17 squad to the tune of 4-1 on Saturday at Centre ICE arena.

Following Friday's 3-2 shootout triumph, the Stars put some breathing room between themselves and fifth-place Team USA in the standings, as TC now holds the fourth and final playoff spot in the NAHL North. The Stars are just a point behind Marquette for third place.

"We needed a weekend like this, to play like this against a good team for six periods," Traverse City head coach Scott Gardiner said. "Now we need to build on that with Mahoning Valley coming in here next weekend."

Kory Kaunisto paced the TC offensive unit with two goals and an assist, while Mike Glaesmer and Harrison Niemann dropped in the bookend goals in the first and third periods, respectively. Zach Hitch, who has six points in his past four games, drew a pair of assists. TC improved to 15-24-5, while USA-17 fell to 14-22-4.
