Calgary Stampeders News Release

As a precursor to the team's annual PinkPower game later this month and as part of the commitment to the battle against women's cancers, the Calgary Stampeders are pleased to host an exclusive event on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

"Processing the Power of Pink" is an open discussion and information session with Stampeders long-snapper and PinkPower player rep Randy Chevrier, his wife Tania, Outriders cheerleader Megan, representatives of the Canadian Cancer Society and women who have been affected by cancer.

Women's cancers touch so many lives and the Stampeders' focus with this year's PinkPower campaign is to raise awareness about the resources available to patients and their families as they go through difficult times.

Processing the Power of Pink will begin with Randy and Tania sharing their personal story. Two women who have gone through or are presently going through treatment will then talk about their battles.

Representatives from the Canadian Cancer Society will be on hand to provide information on the resources available. The evening will be capped off with a wine and cheese reception, where all the presenters will be available to answer any questions. Several Stampeders players will also be on hand to show their support about the importance of creating awareness.

Every dollar raised at this event will go directly to the Canadian Cancer Society to continue to build on the resources and support services available for affected women and their families.

Registration is only $20 and goes directly to this year's PinkPower campaign. Those in attendance will have the first opportunity to purchase the 2013 Reebok PinkPower merchandise. The Stamps' PinkPower game this year will be held on Oct. 26 when the Saskatchewan Roughriders will be the visitors at McMahon Stadium.

Here are the details for Processing the Power of Pink event:

When: Tuesday Oct. 8, 7-9 p.m.

Where: McMahon Stadium, Football Administration Building

Who: Randy and Tania Chevrier, Calgary Stampeders Outrider Megan, members of the Canadian Cancer Society and Stampeders players whose lives have been affected by women's cancers

The Stampeders' next home action comes on Friday, Oct. 11 when Calgary hosts the BC Lions. Kickoff at McMahon Stadium is at 7 p.m. and tickets are available at Stampeders.com.
