Stamps continue GreenZone blitz

May 5, 2009 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Calgary Stampeders News Release

Members of the Calgary Stampeders will be back in local schools this week as part of the GreenZone Sustainability Blitz Speaker Series. Stamps offensive linemen Rob Lazeo, Fabio Filice and Derek Armstrong have been touring local schools to help inform students about the importance of environmental sustainability.

"The basic point is to make kids understand sustainability. Use what you need now and save some for later," says Filice. "We have three separate challenges - one's a water relay, another one's a waste relay and the other one involves cranking two light bulbs, a CFL light bulb and an average light bulb. Basically, we challenge the kids to beat us."

The GreenZone Sustainability Blitz is an innovative program in which players teach students about the pillars of sustainability through interactive activities and encourage them to tackle the issues by taking action in their schools, homes and communities.
