(Calgary) – Today Calgary Stampeders' Senior VP of Football Operations/Head Coach, Tom Higgins, announced the free agent signing of Kicker Sandro DeAngelis and Punter Burke Dales

As per Club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"Both of these individuals have very strong legs," stated Senior VP of Football Operations/Head Coach Tom Higgins. "They also give us the possibility of using non-imports at the kicking position."

College

Sandro was a Four-Time Big 12 Commissioner's Spring Academic Honour Roll (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004) ... Four-Time Big 12 Commissioner's Fall Academic Honour Roll (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003) ... Three-Time Brook Berringer Citizenship Team (2002, 2003, 2004) ... First-Team Academic All-Big 12 (2001, 2003) ... 2003 AFCA Good Works Team.

2004

As a senior Sandro connected on 3 of 5 field goal attempts within 39 yards ... his longest on the season was a 41 yarder ... he was also in charge of kick-offs recording 35 for 2018 yards.

2003

As a junior DeAngelis appeared in seven games and was NU's starting place-kicker for the first two games ... DeAngelis shared kickoff duties for the first part of the year with Sam Koch ... DeAngelis connected on 3-of-4 extra points and hit on 1-of-3 field goal attempts ... in the opener against Oklahoma State, DeAngelis made a career-long 28-yard field goal on NU's first drive of the season ... he made both PATs against the Cowboys, but missed his only PAT attempt against Utah State.

2002

As a sophomore DeAngelis did not play in 2002 ... he was available as a backup early in the year, but his season ended after he suffered a stress fracture in his left foot in early October.

2001

As a freshman DeAngelis started four of the first five games and hit 2-of-3 field goals, and connected on 15-of-16 PATs ... DeAngelis' most extensive action came against Notre Dame, when he kicked off five times, made three PATs and connected on field goals of 19 and 21 yards ... DeAngelis was successful on a season-high five consecutive PAT attempts against Rice ... He had a field goal blocked and was 1-of-2 on PATs at Missouri ... DeAngelis served as a backup to Josh Brown the remainder of the year, and converted on 3-of-3 PATs and kicked off three times.

2000

Redshirted his first year.

Noteworthy

DeAngelis a native of Niagara Falls, Ontario played at St. Joseph's Collegiate HS, Buffalo, N.Y ... DeAngelis earned first-team All-New York honours as a kicker in 1999, connecting on four field goals, while kicking 70 percent of his kickoffs into the end zone ... As a junior, DeAngelis averaged 42 yards per punt, including a school record 84-yarder ... He also connected on five field goals and 37 PATs ... DeAngelis' longest field goal was a 46-yarder as a sophomore ... He was a first-team All-New York selection and was chosen as the Buffalo News Player of the Year and the Western New York Player of the Year, while earning honourable-mention All-America honours from USA Today ... An outstanding student, he was a member of his school's Collegiate Scholars Club, National Honour Society and earned academic All-Western New York honours ... DeAngelis was named to the 2003 AFCA Good Works Team and has been on the Brook Berringer Citizenship Team each of the last three years ... DeAngelis has volunteered his time with DARE, "School is Cool" Week, Nebraska's Spring Break Tour of Excellence, American Education Week, the Husker E-mail Literacy Program, I've Got Heart and Nebraska's Shadowing Program.

Dales played his college football at Concordia University... He was a standout punter and in 2001 he averaged 41.5 yards per punt...He was a three time All-star selection in the Quebec Interuniversity Football Conference (QIFC) and in 2001 he was a first team All-Canadian selection in the CIS.

Personal

Burke's sister Stacey plays for the Washington Mystics of the Women National Basketball Association (WNBA)...Burke is also the cousin of Dallas Stars (NHL) center Jason Arnott.
