Calgary Stampeders News Release
Calgary Stampeders head coach/general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce the signing of import defensive linemen Ryan Riddle and Kelvin Morris.
"They're both explosive, athletic defensive ends who have the ability to get to the quarterback," said Hufnagel. "We look forward to seeing how they stack up at training camp."
The 27-year-old Riddle is a University of California alumnus who has National Football League experience with the Oakland Raiders, New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens. The six-foot-two, 260-pound Los Angeles product was picked by the Raiders in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL Draft.
In his senior season at California, Riddle led the Pac-10 Conference and set a school record by registering 14.5 sacks. He also topped the conference with 19 tackles for loss.
Morris is a 26-year-old Timmonsville, SC, product who has played for the Utah Blaze in the Arena Football League and the Spokane Shock in AFL2. With Spokane in 2007, the six-foot-four, 245-pound Morris recovered six fumbles and scored six defensive touchdowns.
He started his collegiate career at Clemson before transferring to West Georgia, where as a senior in 2005 he amassed 76 tackles, 7.5 sacks and a forced fumble and was named the Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
