Harrisburg Stampede News Release

HARRISBURG, PA (Apr 16, 2014) - The Harrisburg Stampede enter Week Four looking for a win to get back on track after dropping two consecutive contests. The Herd jumped to a 20-8 halftime lead over Lehigh Valley last Friday night; however, four 2nd half Steelhawk interceptions and a FG returned for a TD sealed the fate of the Stampede resulting in a 35-27 loss. This Saturday, the team will look to rebound as they travel to Richmond to face another National Division foe.

The Richmond Raiders are coming off their first win of the season during their home opener on March 30th. A strong defensive and special teams effort helped the Raiders erase a 17 point 4th quarter deficit to come back and defeat the defending champion Alabama Hammers. Two key fourth quarter interceptions for the Raiders ignited a 20-0 run to close out the game with a 38-35 win.

Matchup to Watch :

Harrisburg Stampede Offense ranks tops in the league in total yards per game (313 per game). Led by QB EJ Nemeth, the Stampede offense has been potent thru three weeks, but has given up key turnovers in their two losses.

Richmond Raiders defense ranks #2 in the league in total defense, holding opponents to under 220 yards per game. DE Devin Jones leads the team in sacks (2), as they will try to pressure the Stampede into costly mistakes.

This key matchup is the first of two between the Stampede and Raiders. Both teams are looking to get a win to keep pace with the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks, who sit atop the National Division standings.

Kickoff is set for Saturday April 19th 7:00pm EST at Richmond Coliseum.
