Stampede Travel to Face National Division Rival Trenton Freedom

HARRISBURG, PA (May 8, 2014) - The Harrisburg Stampede (2-3) make the short trip east to face the Trenton Freedom (3-2) this Sunday May 11th. This Mother's Day matchup is the first of two this season between these new division rivals.
The Stampede is coming off a tough divisional loss to the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks last week in Bethlehem. The Stampede team has been very competitive in each of their three losses, as each has come down to one score. The team looks to rebound, and a win can put them back into 2nd place in the National Division.
The Freedom team is coming off an impressive come from behind victory against the Richmond Raiders last weekend. With a tough defense, led by reigning PIFL Defensive Player of the Week DL Marques Slocum, and an offense led by QB Warren Smith, the Freedom look to try and keep pace in the National Division race.
Matchup to Watch :
Harrisburg Stampede QB E.J. Nemeth has been very productive so far this season. He ranks near the top of most statistical categories in the PIFL, and looks to take his game to the next level to get the Stampede back on track. He ranks in the top 4 in many categories, including 3rd in total offense (252 per game), 2nd in total TDs (24), and 2nd in passing yards (1,117). Unfortunately he also ranks last in the league in interceptions thrown (10).
Trenton Freedom QB Warren Smith has been one of the top quarterbacks in the league through the season. In those same categories, Smith ranks 4th in total offense (222 per game), 3rd in total TDs (23), and 3rd in passing yards (969). However, like Nemeth, Smith has also struggled with turnovers, as he ranks 2nd to last in interceptions thrown (7).
The winner of this came may come down to the ability to limit giveaways. In a game where possessions are critical, the signal caller that can protect the ball better puts their team in better position to come away with a big win in the division.
