Harrisburg Stampede News Release
HARRISBURG, PA (February 6, 2012) - Harrisburg Stampede Head Coach, Bernie Nowotarski announced today that the team have signed Veteran WR Scorpio Brown and Kicker TJ Chiarolanza for the 2012 Season.
The Stampede season is fast approaching, but the coaching staff is still hard at work looking for the players that give us the best chance to make a run at the AIF Championship in June.
Scorpio Brown brings to the Stampede another big target at the WR position. As well he brings with him a vast level of Indoor experience, which includes a Championship Ring from his days with the Baltimore Mariners. The Hampton grad stands 6'4" and 230lbs. The Stampede is putting together a very big and talented WR group. Brown will be joining a WR group that already has signed 6'5" Jon Lanouette and 6'1" Jamel Harris as well as several other very talented WR's. Scorpio makes his return to the AIF after playing last season for the Richmond Revolution of the IFL. We are looking for his leadership and experience to really be a positive on this team. Scorpio will fast become a Stampede fan favorite.
At 5'9" and 165lbs, TJ Chiarolanza may not sound like a big pick up for the Stampede, but the strength in his leg quickly got the attention of every Stampede coach at the last 2 open work-outs. TJ lives in Warminster, Pa and is William Tennent grad where he was his team's leading scorer in both the 2005 and 06 seasons. TJ then attended Lycoming College in Williamsport Pa. where his kicking career continued to improve. In the 2010 season, TJ was the team's leading scorer. TJ was named to the 2010 First Team Academic All-American Team. Adding to that honor was his being named as the 2010 Mid-Atlantic Conference Football/Scholar Athlete of the Year and was selected as Lycoming's 2010 Special Teams Player of the Year. We are very happy to have TJ signed. This is the a-typical kind of player we are looking for. A player who cares about his education, his family and community values first and then comes out and enjoys what he has the ability to do on the field.
