Harrisburg Stampede News Release

HARRISBURG, PA (Nov 7, 2013) - Stampede President/General Manager Marques Colston is proud to announce that Head Coach Bernie Nowotarski will be back on the sidelines for the 2014 Season. Coming off the heels of the 2013 AIF National Championship campaign, Nowotarski will lead the Stampede into their new league, the PIFL and their new home, Giant Center.

"I'm excited to have Bernie back with our organization this season." said Colston. "His experience and leadership has played a major role in our success over the past two years, and will help us to continue putting a winning team on the field. The move into the PIFL presents new challenges, and Bernie and his staff give us the best chance to be successful."

In Nowotarski's nine seasons of indoor coaching, he has amassed an 83-29 regular season record. His 11-5 playoff record includes five (5) division titles, three (3) conference championships, and two (2) National Championship victories with different teams (Reading Express 2009 and Harrisburg Stampede 2013). He was named Coach of the Year in both of those championship seasons.

"The hard work and dedication by the entire organization really showed and everything fell into place for the 2013 season," remarked Nowotarski. "The front office, players, and our assistant coaches worked hard last offseason and they kept that work ethic right thru the entire season and we were rewarded for that hard work with a championship."

"Marques has worked very hard to create a strong front office group, as well as establishing a team with strong community ties. We believe the move to the PIFL will be a positive for the organization, our players and our fans and we plan to make the PIFL proud to have the Stampede as a member of the league," said Nowotarski

Along with Nowotarksi as Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator, the majority of assistant coaches will also be back for 2014. Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator Rick Marsilio is back to lead the Stampede's explosive offense that averaged nearly 57 points per game last season. Re-joining Marsilio on the staff are Jake Minnich (Offensive Line), Bentz Tozer (Strength and Conditioning/Defensive Line), Chad Fauson (Offensive/Defensive Line Assistant). Also back for 2014 are Tim McGrath (Film and Scouting) and Tony Alvarez (Equipment Manager).

The Stampede have also hired a Director of Player Personnel, Will Mattis, rounding out the staff.

Marques Colston on the staff announcement: "We're very excited to bring our coaching staff back for the 2014 season. Their experience working together is a great asset for us as we continue to build a successful program."
