BOUCHERVILLE, Tuesday, September 30, 2008 - The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Disciplinary Prefect on Tuesday imposed a three-game suspension to Olympiques forward Travis Stacey for throwing a punch at an opponent in the last five minutes of last Sunday's game between Gatineau and Montreal at the Verdun Auditorium.
The breakdown of the suspension is as follows: an automatic one-game suspension for the assessed aggressor penalty (code 4.1) as well as two additional games for the gesture in question, which was judged by the Disciplinary Prefect to be a first degree offense in nature (the lowest degree).
The decision was rendered after reviewing the videotape of the incident and consulting all concerned parties. The suspension is in effect as of today.
In accordance with the QMJHL policy in the matter of disciplinary sanctions, the Disciplinary Prefect will not be available for further comment.
