Sky Blue FC News Release
SOMERSET, N.J. (July 21, 2009) - Saint Peter's Healthcare System and Sky Blue FC will team up to bring you the BE WELL! Health Fair on Sunday, August 5 beginning at 5:30 pm in the Yurcak Field parking lot, on the campus of Rutgers University in Piscataway, N.J. The health fair will precede the final home game of the Women's Professional Soccer regular season against FC Gold Pride with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
The Fair will feature individual evaluation in a number of crucial areas in a Community Mobile Health Services facility to host osteoporosis screening, as well as blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, body mass index and nutrition counseling, and breast health and sun safety information. The event is free and open to the public.
Additional events include an "Ask the Doctor" segment with physicians from University Orthopedic Group. The Sports Medicine Institute will host an informational booth, with customized individual evaluation. Children can also take advantage of fun games to encourage participation, with giveaway prizes.
Saint Peter's Healthcare System is the presenting sponsor of Sky Blue FC - one of only two teams in WPS that features a sponsor on the home and away jerseys. The BE WELL! Health Fair represents the combined efforts of Saint Peter's and Sky Blue FC to expand health awareness among both youth athletes and their families.
The BE WELL! Health Fair is part of an entire evening of festivities, including a Pizza Hut tailgate party, a Celebrate Brazil! theme night with a Meet & Greet with Brazilian players, and a charity auction of the team jerseys to win the "Shirts Off Our Backs," with proceeds benefitting Botswana Coaching for Conservation, a soccer program in Africa, with Ashley's Soccer Camp.
