
St. George ties series at 1-1

Tucson, AZ - The Tucson Toros dropped game two of the GBL's South Division championship, 6-3, to the St. George Roadrunners, Friday night. With the loss, the series is evened up at 1-1 in the best-of-five.
St. George scored two runs in the first inning and Tucson answered back in their half of the first as Junior Spivey hit a solo-blast over the leftfield fence. The Roadrunners scored runs in both the third and fourth innings, increasing their lead to 6-1.
Tucson battled back by scoring single runs in the fourth and eighth innings; including a solo homerun by Jim Rushford in the fourth. Rushford finished the night going 3-4, scored one run and drove in a pair of RBI.
Late season pickup, Dustin Glant, got the start for the Toros, where he went 6 1/3 innings, giving up six runs, four earned, on 13 hits. Glant also picked up the loss in his first start Tucson.
Toby Nordman and Jason Hanna appeared out of the Toros' bullpen where they combined to throw 2 2/3 of shutout relief.
Game three, of the best-of-five series, is scheduled for Saturday, 7:00 pm at Hi Corbett field. Gates open at 6:00 pm.
