Sportsplex set to host East Kentucky Pro Basketball Youth Camp

PIKEVILLE, KY. - The Knott County Sportsplex, a state-of-the-art facility, will host a Coach Kevin Keathley/East Kentucky Miners youth basketball camp during the month of June. Less than one year after opening, the Knott County Sportsplex will host an East Kentucky Pro Basketball Youth Camp conducted by East Kentucky Miners Coach Kevin Keathley June 16-18, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. daily.

"I'm extremely excited about having the Knott County Sportsplex host the East Kentucky Pro Basketball Youth Camp in June," said East Kentucky Miners Coach Kevin Keathley. "It's a first class facility and myself and the entire East Kentucky Miners organization are going to provide the very best in basketball instruction to the youth of Eastern Kentucky. I encourage all parents to enroll their children as soon as possible." Keathley guided East Kentucky to a 26-22 regular-season record an a CBA Playoffs appearance during the team's debut season.

East Kentucky led the CBA in scoring during the 2007-08 season, averaging nearly 111 points per game.

The Miners set a single-game professional basketball scoring record March 2 in a 194-115 win over CBA American Conference foe Atlanta.

East Kentucky Pro Basketball Youth Camp participants will have the chance to learn fundamentals from one of the best offensive-minded coaches. Each East Kentucky Pro Basketball Youth Camp participant will receive a T-shirt, participation medal and certificate of completion. The camps will also include giveaways and the chance to win various prizes and awards, including basketball merchandise and trophies.

Lunch will be provided from noon-1 p.m. every day at each camp. Camp applications are available at schools in Knott, Floyd, Letcher and Perry counties, the Knott County Sportsplex, the East Kentucky Miners office (located at 237 2nd Street Suite 5, Pikeville) and several area businesses.

Applications for the camp are also available online at www.ekminers.com.
