SPRINGFIELD, MA ... The American Hockey League announced today that Canadian sports network Rogers Sportsnet will broadcast live nationally Game 7 (if necessary) of the AHL's Eastern Conference championship series between the Hamilton Bulldogs and the Binghamton Senators, from Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, Ont.

The deciding game of the best-of-seven series would be played on Sun., May 25 at 4:00 p.m. ET. The winner of the game would advance to the Calder Cup 2003 Finals.

The Hamilton Bulldogs are the top development team of the Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers, and won the Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy for owning the AHL's best record (49-19-8-4) in the 2002-03 regular season. The Bulldogs' roster features 2002 Memorial Cup winner Jarret Stoll and former first-round draft picks Mike Komisarek, Ron Hainsey, Jani Rita and league MVP Jason Ward.

The Binghamton Senators, top development team of the Ottawa Senators, won the AHL's East Division in the regular season behind top prospects Brian Pothier and AHL All-Rookie Team selections Jason Spezza, Ray Emery and Antoine Vermette. The B-Sens are guided by John Paddock, who is trying to win his fourth Calder Cup championship as a head coach.

Last week, Sportsnet broadcast Games 6 and 7 of Hamilton's conference semifinal series against the Manitoba Moose to a national audience. The network's coverage of the Calder Cup 2003 Playoffs follows a broadcast package of AHL games during the 2002-03 regular season, which included a national telecast of the 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic in Portland and the league's new weekly magazine program, Inside the AHL.

Rogers Sportsnet, Canada's only 24-hour regional sports network, provides sports fans across the country with the "home team" coverage they have been asking for. Sportsnet offers viewers distinct and entertaining sports programming in four regions: Sportsnet East (Quebec and Atlantic Provinces), Sportsnet Ontario, Sportsnet West (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Nunavut and Northwest Territories) and Sportsnet Pacific (British Columbia and Yukon).
