Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
The Shreveport Sports won their third straight as they defeated the San Angelo Colts 5-3 Saturday at Fair Grounds Field.
The Sports took a 1-0 lead in the first on a RBI single by Chad Gambill, but San Angelo scored three in the second to take a 3-1 lead. The Colts Aaron Mendoza highlighted the inning with a two-run home run.
Shreveport came back to tie the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the second, scoring two unearned runs. With the game tied at 3-3 in the fifth inning, Sports catcher Jason Torres drove in the go ahead run with a sacrifice fly to left field. The Sports added an insurance run in the eighth inning when Dalphie Correa dropped down a suicide squeeze bunt that scored Enohel Polanco from third base.
Relief pitcher Carl Makowsky answered the call from the bullpen in the eighth and with the bases loaded struck out Mendoza to end the inning. Makowsky recorded his ninth save of the season while Ryan Snyder picked up the victory.
Shreveport and San Angelo will close out the four-game series Sunday at Fair Grounds Field. Game time 6:05.
