Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
Shreveport Sports righthander Eric Wikstrom pitched a shutout, scattering eight hits in a 7-0 win over San Angelo Thursday at Fair Grounds Field. It was the first complete game hurled by Wikstrom and only the second time this season that San Angelo, the leading hitting team in the Central League, has been shutout.
The Sports jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning getting five singles and scoring all three runs after two were out. Two more runs were scored after two out in the second on a two-run home run by Hector Lebron and the Sports led 5-0.
Shreveport pounded out 12 hits in the victory as the Sports beat the Colts for the first time this season at home. San Angelo had only one base runner to reach third base in the loss.
Shreveport and San Angelo will meet in the second game of the four-game series Friday at Fair Grounds Field. Game time 7:05.
