Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release

The Shreveport Sports winning streak came to an end at three Sunday night as San Angelo defeated the Sports 4-3 at Fair Grounds Field. Colts pinch hitter Frank Goytia had a base hit with the bases loaded in the ninth inning to drive home two runs and end San Angelo's losing streak at seven.

J.P. Schmidt gave San Angelo a 1-0 lead in the second inning with his eighth home run of the season. The Sports came back to tie the game in the fourth and took a 3-1 lead with two runs in the fifth inning. The Colts cut the lead to one run with a tally in the seventh and won the game in the ninth on the base hit by Goytia, which came off losing pitcher Carl Makowsky.

The Sports will start a six-game road trip Monday with a three-game series at Coastal Bend and continue the trip with three more games at Ft. Worth Thursday-Saturday. Shreveport will return to Fair Grounds Field on Monday, August 8th against Edinburg.
