Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
Shreveport's Dalphie Correa doubled to score Hector Lebron from first base in the bottom of the 12th inning as the Sports defeated El Paso 5-4 Friday at Fair Grounds Field.
The victory keeps playoff hopes alive for the Sports as San Angelo lost and it comes down to the final games of the season to determine if the Sports get a playoff berth. Shreveport would need a win and San Angelo would have to lose which would force a one-game playoff between Shreveport and San Angelo Sunday.
Lebron led off the 12th inning with a single and on a 3-2 pitch Correa doubled into the left field corner to score Lebron with the winning run.
Shreveport had tied the game at 3-3 in the 9th inning on an RBI single by Enohel Polanco and after El Paso took the lead in the 11th the Sports rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the 11th on a two-out single by Coby Smith.
The Sports and El Paso will close out the regular season Saturday at Fair Grounds Field. Game time will be 7:05.
