Sports announce 2006 schedule

The All-American season for the Shreveport Sports will begin May 11th in the new American Association when the Sports open the 2006 season at Fort Worth. The home opener for the Sports will be Tuesday, May 16th at Fair Grounds Field against the Lincoln (NE) Saltdogs. Lincoln will be in the Northern Division of the American Association.

The 2006 season for the Sports will start on the road May 11th and close on the road at Pensacola August 26th.

"We will have 16 Friday/Saturday home games along with seven Thursday night games and seven Sunday home dates which will be an attractive home schedule for the first year in the new league," said Terri Sipes, General Manager of the Sports. "We will also be at home on July 4th and Father's Day (June 18th) which will give us an opportunity for some special promotions," concluded Sipes.

The Sports will play the majority of their games against Pensacola, Fort Worth, Coastal Bend and El Paso which are in the South Division. Shreveport will make only one trip to the North Division and that will be in late July with a six-game road trip to Sioux Falls (SD) and Sioux City (IA). Besides Lincoln in the Northern Divison, the Sports will host St. Paul (MN) the third weekend in July and St. Jospeh (MO) in the middle of June and at the end of July.

The playoffs for the 2006 American Association season will start on August 28th and the championship series with the South winner against the North champion will start on September 4th.
