TAMPA BAY, FL - Spokane quarterback Erik Meyer threw for six touchdowns, two each to Adron Tennell and Brandon Thompkins as the Shock (4-2) defeated the Tampa Bay Storm, 53-41, Saturday on the Amalie Motor Oil Field in the Tampa Bat Times Forum.
Erik Hippeard led the Storm (3-4) who have now lost three in a row will host the expansion Portland Thunder next Saturday. The Thunder won its first Arena Football League game of the season at Jacksonville Saturday, 69-62.
Michael Lindsey broke the all-time runback yardage mark in the third quarter. He went one yard ahead of George LaFrance's 5,116 yards with 44 yards through three periods. LaFrance did his in six seasons, with mostly 12 games a year.
Lindsey has done it in three and one-half seasons, playing in 18, 10, 17 and seven games this season. He ended with 55 yards and now has a total of 5,128.
Tampa Bay led, 27-26, at halftime as Hippeard connected on three touchdowns on 14 of 18 passes. The big gainer was a 46-yard toss to Lindsey early in the second quarter. That gave the Storm a 20-13 lead at 11:26.
The Storm trailed, 40-34, at the end of the 3rd period as Meyer connected with Washington and Tennell in that 15-minute quarter.
