Spokane Chiefs' James Reid Named CHL Goaltender Of The Week

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that James Reid of the Spokane Chiefs is the CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending November 8. Reid finished the week with a 3-0-0-0 record posting a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of.962.

Reid began his week on Wednesday night as the Chiefs hosted the Chilliwack Bruins. After allowing the game's opening goal midway through the first period, Reid shut the door and stopped 24 shots in the 5-1 comeback win. On Friday night the Chiefs took to the road to take on the Seattle Thunderbirds where Reid again gave up the game's opening goal, this time late in the second period on the power play, but finished the game with 28 saves in total as first star of the game in the 3-1 comeback win. His week finished at home Saturday night where he made 24 saves in a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Giants.

Reid, an 18-year-old from Calgary, AB, is playing in his second WHL season with the Chiefs. He currently has a record of 8-4-1-0 with one shutout and has the sixth best goals-against-average in the league at 2.46 with a save percentage of.910.

Also considered this week from the QMJHL was Mathieu Corbeil-Thériault of the Halifax Mooseheads who finished the week with a 2-1-0-0 record with a 1.67 goals-against-average and a.945 save percentage who was also twice named first star of the game. In the OHL, Brampton Battalion 16-year-old rookie Jacob Riley earned a shutout in just his second career start making 20 saves as second star of a 2-0 win over the London Knights on Sunday afternoon.
