
Spirit Hold Off Pride in Pre-Season Finale

(Nashua, NH, May 22, 2006) - The North Shore Spirit stroked 13 hits Monday night in an 8-6 victory over the Nashua Pride in a Can-Am League exhibition game. The Spirit jumped on Nashua starter Jon Connolly for two runs in the first inning and never trailed.
North Shore shortstop Chris Rowan doubled home the game's first run and scored the second on an RBI single by Jeff Brooks who knocked in two runs on the night to pace the Spirit attack.
The Pride trailed, 8-1, until the bottom of the eighth inning when they rallied for four runs. Third baseman Brett Davis had a two-run single in the uprising. Nashua added a single run in the ninth as Elliott Ayala doubled home Mark Hamilton.
Jason Andrew worked two hitless innings for the Spirit to earn the victory. Jared Trout picked up a save. Connolly suffered the loss.
The Pride finished the pre-season at 1-3. This was the only exhibition game for North Shore.
The Pride will host the Spirit in Nashua's regular season debut in the Can-Am League on Thursday night at Historic Holman Stadium. Game time is 7:05.
