Spike's Getting Married: Who's the Bride?

February 8, 2018 - Champions Indoor Football (CIF)
Bloomington Edge News Release

Bloomington, IL. - The Bloomington Edge is proud to announce the engagement of their mascot Spike. The wedding is open to the public and free of charge. Spike and his mystery bride will be getting married from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 14 at the Chateau Hotel ballroom in Bloomington, IL. Friends and well-wishers are encouraged to stop by for a few minutes or stay the whole time. Spike's wedding is quickly becoming the social event of the season.

This Valentine's Day event will be a family fun-filled event. Some of Spike's best fiends have already RSVP'd including Dora the Explorer, Curious George, Chuck E. Cheese, Cub Master Rex, and the Heartland Hawk. All will be available for pictures after the ceremony. Vendors including both local libraries, the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, Jason's Deli, Moe's Southwestern Grill, CEFCU, Battle Orbs, Rock the Spectrum, and Great Harvest will also be on hand to provide kid friendly activities and snacks. Representatives from the Miller Park Zoo will also be bringing some of their animals.

Every great love story has a tale of how the two hearts met. Spike met his love interest at a camp in elementary school. Sadly they lost touch when camp ended because she had to leave abruptly due to a freak three-legged race accident. She was rushed to CIOS where Dr. Keller took an x-ray and treated her for a broken leg.

After years of hoping they would bump into each other again, they reconnected through Instagram when Spike saw his crush on the Bloomington Edge Fan Page (@bloomingtonedge). They had their first date at Avanti's and had an instant connection. Spike knew they just had to be together.

Spike spent a year pinching his pennies to put enough in his CEFCU savings account to buy a beautiful diamond ring. Since they both loved adventure, the happy couple decided to go mountain climbing on a crisp, sunny morning. It was the perfect day to ask his one true love to be his forever. Spike proposed on top of Mt. Everest and they celebrated with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as they looked out over the mountains.

Spike can be seen at every game and numerous community events. The Bloomington Edge 2018 season starts off with a home opener on Sunday, February 25th at 5pm. Season tickets, flex ticket packages, and group events are on sale now at www.bloomingtonedge.net.
