San Jose Spiders News Release
Last week the SAN JOSE SPIDERS of the National Women's Basketball League (NWBL) held two basketball clinics in Oakland, both led by Spiders coaches and players. Participants included children from the East Oakland Youth Development Center.
Not only did the participants learn basketball skills, but they also had the memorable experience of interacting one-on-one with professional female athletes including Spiders players Amanda Lassiter of the WNBA Minnesota Lynx, Tera Borklund of the WNBA Charlotte Sting, and Andrea Garner formerly with the WNBA Seattle Storm. Each child received autographs and clinic t-shirts. All of this was made possible by the generous sponsorship of Ross Stores.
The SAN JOSE SPIDERS have three more home games before the regular season concludes:
Saturday, March 19th at 7p.m. - "Girl Scouts Night"
Saturday, March 26th at 7p.m. - "Fan Appreciation Night"
Sunday, March 27th at 4p.m. - "National Junior Basketball Night"
The NWBL is a six-team league that features more than 25 active WNBA players. Other teams in the league include the Birmingham Power (Birmingham, Ala.); Dallas Fury (Dallas, Texas); Chicago Blaze (Naperville, Ill.); San Jose Spiders (San Jose, Calif.) and Lubbock Hawks (Lubbock, Texas).
