December 21, 2016 - SPHL (SPHL) News Release
HUNTERSVILLE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League, in conjunction with its mem- ber clubs, today announced the league's first-ever 5K Toy Drive has collected over 9,650 toys for local charities.
The initiative was proposed by Mississippi RiverKings president Robin Hurdle during a Community/Charity breakout ses- sion at the league's Annual Meeting this past June and was unanimously approved by the Board of Governors. The League Office then met with its Marketing Committee to further develop the plan before presenting it to all member clubs.
"As part of the SPHL's continuing dedication to its communities, we are thrilled our teams were able to surpass the goal of 5,000 toys,"Â said President Jim Combs. "Our fans and corporate sponsors really demonstrated the holiday spirit with their donations and impact this will have on their communities is immeasurable." ###
