SPHL Suspends Louisiana's Tyler Barr for Remainder of Season

February 16, 2016 - SPHL (SPHL) News Release

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (February 16, 2016) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) on Monday announced Louisiana's Tyler Barr has been suspended for the balance of the 2015-2016 regular season and playoffs for his actions in Game 170, Louisiana at Peoria, played on Sunday, February 14.

At 10:13 of the second period, Barr was assessed a minor penalty for charging and a major penalty and game misconduct for spearing Peoria's Alec Hagaman in the face while Hagaman was on the ice in a defenseless position.

"Mr. Barr's actions in this game, along with his previous history that has resulted in three other suspensions this season, show a continued lack of respect and complete disregard for the safety of his opponents," ruled SPHL Vice President Doug Price. "As such, Mr. Barr has been suspended for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs."
