Galindo Has Surgery, Out 8-10 More Weeks

O'Brien To See Some Time This Weekend

Sounder Cuban Forward Maykel Galindo is recovering from surgery late last week to aid in the recovery of recent fractures found in his orbital bone surrounding his left eye. Galindo was injured in a collision with former Sounder keeper Preston Burpo on May 7th in a friendly with Burpo's new MLS club, Chivas USA. Initially thought by team doctors and trainers to only have broken his nose, recent CT scans discovered the small fractures in Galindo's orbital bone. Early prognosis, Galindo will be out another 8-10 weeks; the Sounders are hoping to have him back for a playoff run in August.

INJURY REPORT: For the first time all season, Sounders' Head Coach Brian Schmetzer almost has his full squad healthy. Midfielder Jake Sagare will return to the lineup this weekend against Vancouver after missing four games with a sprained ankle. Defender Zach Scott continues his battle with his foot injury, but likely will play against Vancouver. Midfielder Leighton O'Brien continues to recover from a sprained foot, and will also see some time on field against the Whitecaps.
