Atlanta Blaze News Release
Atlanta, Ga. - The Atlanta Blaze of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) today announced Spencer Ford as Assistant Coach and Director of Player Personnel. Spencer will assume his duties immediately after a very successful stint as the General Manager of the Chesapeake Bayhawks.
"We are so excited to announce that Spencer has been appointed to the position of Assistant Coach and Player Personnel Director. He will assist Coach Tucker on the field and be a valuable asset to our organization off the field. We believe Spencer's extensive Major League Lacrosse experience and successes along with his outstanding achievements as a player provide a great fit for our organization," said Blaze owner Peter Trematerra.
Ford served as General Manager for the Chesapeake Bayhawks from Feb 2010 to September 2015. He helped construct and led the Bayhawks to the 2010 and 2013 Major League Lacrosse Championships. He was primarily responsible for all player personnel decisions including conducting the College draft each year.
Spencer is also the Mid-Atlantic Director for 3d Lacrosse managing the daily operations for a very successful club program.
"First, I would like to thank Peter Trematerra, Kevin O'Leary and John Tucker for this amazing opportunity. Coach Tucker gave me the opportunity to play in this league and I am forever grateful. He is, in my opinion, one of the best coaches the league has seen, I am thrilled to work alongside him again," said Spencer Ford.
Spencer went on to say, "The MLL has been a major part of my life over the last several years, I am very excited to help build the most successful organization both on and off the field."
"It will be an honor to work with Spencer in building the Blaze franchise. We have a long history together and I admire the ways in which he has become an excellent coach and communicator. He has a keen eye for talent and I trust his instincts and strategic approach to the pro game. Spencer will be a key component to the future success of the Atlanta Blaze franchise. I couldn't be happier," said Head Coach John Tucker.
"Spencer is an outstanding person who will be an invaluable asset on the field to our players and staff and to our entire organization off the field. His involvement and experience in the community growing the sport of lacrosse is a true asset to The Blaze," said Blaze President Kevin O'Leary.
