
Sparks Fly as VooDoo Falls to Shock

NEW ORLEANS "" The New Orleans VooDoo (1-7) drop their seventh straight as they fall to the Spokane Shock (6-3) 65-54 in front of a crowd of 9,317 in the Veterans Memorial Arena on Friday Night.
The Shock started off this battle with a 9 yard touchdown pass. VooDoo answered quickly as QB Kurt Rocco showed his dominance as he returned to his first game back from a knee injury a 34 yard touchdown pass to Donovan Morgan making the score 7-7. In return, Spokane continued the fast paced scoring with a 45 yard touchdown pass. VooDoo responded with a five yard touchdown pass to WR Courtney Smith and a 39 yard touchdown pass to WR Donovan Morgan to wrap up the first quarter with a score of 21-14.
Rocco and Morgan continued their chemistry in the second quarter completing a 9 yard touchdown pass. However, the Shock took the lead at the end of the first half making it 27-31. VooDoo spirits were still high as they would come out of the half as the receiving team.
Rocco throws an interception to start out the second half. This miscommunication between Rocco and WR Courtney Smith led to Shock 14 yard touchdown, extending the Shock lead over the VooDoo. However, VooDoo momentum continued strong as Rocco completed yet another 47 yard touchdown pass to WR Donovan Morgan. VooDoo WR Derek Lee continued the New Orleans momentum as he recovered and returned a fumbled Shock snap for a VooDoo touchdown. VooDoo FB Jeramie Richardson closed out the third quarter with a nine yard touchdown pass from QB Kurt Rocco putting the VooDoo on top 47-45.
Rocco who finished the game with 22 of 38 for 318 yards and seven touchdowns managed to connect with Morgan one more time in the fourth for a 33 yard touchdown pass. Morgan finished the game with 13 receptions for 255 yards. Five turnovers for the VooDoo led to their demise with the final score resulting in the Shock 65 and the VooDoo 54.
New Orleans heads back home to the Mercedes Benz Superdome where they take on the Chicago Rush on May 25.
